You can give a man a fish. Or you can teach him to fish. Better yet, you can give him a fish so that he doesn't starve to death while you teach him to fish.
I think, however, that it might be wise to first make sure that the guy will even eat fish.
In my years of teaching business students and Army officers, I've come to realize that most budding professionals appreciate the importance of a strong vocabulary. But too many students just can't seem to bring themselves to work on their vocabularies on their own. It's like eating healthy. They all know they should do it; they just haven't developed a taste for it.
They don't like fish.
